Job Summary
The office of institutional equity & belonging is the dynamic center of antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion at Colorado College. Leading by example, our vision is a justice-centered Colorado College community in which all members feel a sense of belonging and where we continuously uproot oppression wherever it exists. The Director of Belonging and Engagement is charged with cultivating and implementing strategic initiatives that promote a sense of belonging for campus constituents as well as foster connections to key partners in the Pikes Peak Region. The director will oversee the development of comprehensive cultural programs and will identify and cultivate relationships with on and off-campus partners who support marginalized communities. They will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating a portfolio of annual programs designed to encourage cross-divisional, cultural and social awareness and initiate meaningful cross-cultural dialogues, appropriate for diverse audiences of trustees, administrators, staff, faculty, students and community members.
Responsibilities

Create culturally affirming programs and events that nurture a sense of belonging, build community, and encourage critical reflection of one’s own and others’ personal and social identities, including intersections of identities on campus and in the broader Pikes Peak region.
Cultivate and sustain external relationships that enhance our ADEI initiatives and advance our antiracism commitment. Represent Colorado College at community events, on nonprofit boards, and through other mechanisms that increase our local ADEI visibility.
Collaborate with Human Resources and the Crown Center to foster connection for new employees through CC Connect, CC Ambassadors and MAPS.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum of five years of experience leading ADEI initiatives and programming designed to build knowledge and skills regarding issues of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation and religion among others. Experience utilizing institutional data to benchmark and promote accountability for the diversity mission. Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills. Ability to manage change through a highly collaborative and collegial process. Cultural awareness and sensitivity to interact, collaborate, establish rapport and maintain productive working relationships with all members of the college community. Ability to work independently and to work effectively as leader or member in teams, on taskforces, and committees. Strong management skills to supervise student staff. Evening and weekend work may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
An understanding and appreciation for a liberal arts approach to higher education. Knowledge of professional development modalities and needs within higher education. Deep knowledge of program assessment practices. Experience in website development.
