Job Summary

The Senior Accountant, Investments & Endowment Administration supports the College's financial stewardship through accurate accounting, administration, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of investments, endowments, trusts, debt, and related financial activities. This role serves as a key resource for the administration and accounting of the College’s investment portfolio and endowment assets in excess of $1 billion, including approximately 900 donor restricted and endowed funds, trust and gift accounting, debt compliance, audit support, and financial reporting while supporting strong internal controls and effective financial stewardship. Responsibilities within these functional areas may be assigned, redistributed, or shared among team members based on business needs, workload, staffing levels, institutional priorities, and individual expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Investment & Endowment Administration
    • Administer and account for the College's investment portfolio, endowment funds, trusts, life income funds, and related investment activities.
    • Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, spending distributions, investment reporting, and analyses.
    • Maintain accurate accounting records for donor-restricted funds and provide financial information to Advancement, Finance leadership, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Financial Reporting, Audit & Compliance
    • Prepare reconciliations, roll forwards, workpapers, and supporting schedules for annual audits, tax reporting, debt compliance, regulatory filings, and financial statements.
    • Ensure transactions and reporting comply with accounting standards, donor restrictions, institutional policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Debt, Trust & Specialized Fund Administration
    • Support accounting and administration of the College's debt portfolio, charitable trusts, life income funds, annuities, and other specialized funds.
    • Process related transactions, distributions, compliance reporting, reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Strategic Projects, Process Improvement & Financial Analysis
    • Lead and participate in special projects, process improvements, financial analyses, system enhancements, and policy development initiatives that support Finance Department priorities.
    • Develop reporting tools, evaluate and improve business processes, strengthen internal controls, support technology initiatives, and provide analytical support for decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Customer Service & Financial Operations
    • Serve as a resource for campus departments, Advancement, investment advisors, auditors, donors, trustees, and other stakeholders regarding investment, endowment, trust, and related financial matters.
    • Provide guidance, resolve issues, support financial operations, and maintain effective working relationships.

Collaboration Skills:
Communications regarding interpretation of policies may be made after discussion of different points of view. Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies.

Technical Knowledge:
Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5 years of experience in a related field

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $68,862 to $84,356 per year
