Job Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology

Position Status: One-Year Visitor

Academic Rank: Visiting Assistant Professor

Department: Sociology

Campus Location: Main Campus

Job Summary

The Department of Sociology at Colorado College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position, specialization open, to begin Fall 2026.

The scope of the Sociology Department's curriculum is quite broad, ranging from the study of social identities and interactions to the organization and function of domestic and global social institutions and structures. Across its curriculum, the department maintains a primary concern with social inequality - its various forms, structures, and processes of social reproduction - as well as with how sociology can inform efforts to bring about a more just society. We offer an undergraduate major with concentrations Research Methods and Data Analysis as well as Health and Society.

We seek a colleague who can teach 100-level introductory courses as well as any 200-level courses that align with one's specialization - complementing courses already offered.

Colorado College operates under a unique academic model called the Block Plan. Students take one course at a time for three-and-a-half weeks with a four-day break between courses. Faculty teach six of the eight blocks in the academic year with the remaining two designated as non-teaching blocks.
