Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to support Colorado College’s library services for the college's Summer Music Festival (SMF). Over a four-week period, the Library Fellow will be integrated directly into the festival, deliver library services that support all aspects of the festival, and learn about music library services at Colorado College. This fellow will receive mentorship from the Music Librarian & Seay Library Manager, as well as other library professionals, to aid in their career development. While most of this fellowship will be spent supporting library services directly, engagement with festival events is necessary to those services

Responsibilities

  • Library Operations Support
    • Assist the Music Librarian & Seay Library Manager with the daily operations of Albert Seay Library of Music and Art, particularly as they relate to the needs of the Summer Music Festival faculty and fellows
  • Music Materials Preparation & Performance Support
    • Prepare, retrieve, and distribute professional music materials for rehearsals and performances.
  • Inventory & Collections Management
    • Manage music library inventory, including the circulation of parts and scores.
  • Technical & Administrative Support
    • Provide technical and administrative support for music materials, including copying, printing, and scanning.
  • Collection Development & Cataloging Support
    • Develop foundational knowledge of music collection development and cataloging practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a related field

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion some college coursework
  • Demonstrated interest in music performance, composition, conducting, and/or scholarship
  • Interest in pursuing librarianship, particularly music and/or performing arts librarianship
  • Ability to read music

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $21.00 per hour
