Job Summary

As a team, Support the maintenance and operation of campus facilities by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC, Refrigeration, Chillers, Boilers and restaurant, and swimming pool equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of systems that support campus programs and daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as determined by the Facilities Services Department computer maintenance advisor program (TMA)
  • Respond to requests from campus requiring adjustments or repair to building equipment systems.
  • The HVAC Team performs Service and maintains, Chillers, boilers, Multi City systems, package units, split systems and make up air units and all associated pumps and fans.
  • Service and maintain the Robson Arena, Ice Rink Chiller plant.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance duties on a wide variety of commercial kitchen and refrigeration equipment such as walk-in freezers, refrigerators, ice machines, industrial dishwashers, and Refrigeration rack systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors and complete all paperwork.
  • Assist with closed-loop water treatment.
  • Perform maintenance on the swimming pool chemical levels, mechanical issues, and accurate record keeping.
  • Use the (TMA)work order management system to accept, and complete the work requests, generate purchase order numbers to purchase parts
  • Assist with HVAC preventive maintenance, order and replace filters, grease bearings keep mechanical rooms clean.
  • Participate in our 24-hour on-call program.
  • Campus HVAC emergency service calls.
  • Perform other duties the supervisor may assign.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus a minimum of two years of related experience or equivalent specialized training/education (HVAC Certificate) Universal EPA Certification: Mech-4 License, Certified Pool Operator certificate is required within 30 days of employment;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds;
  • ability to think critically and solve problems;
  • good judgment;
  • excellent organizational and customer service skills;
  • knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems;
  • ability to operate standard office equipment and small hand tools.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Physical requirements include finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination to perform keyboard functions; moderate physical effort (usually lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds); walking, standing, carrying of loads up and downstairs, reaching and/or grasping, stooping, kneeling, bending, crawling, and crouching, pushing and/or pulling; must work outdoors in all weather conditions; exposure to noisy or dusty conditions, mechanical, electrical and/or other hazards chemicals and solvents

Preferred Qualifications

  • HVAC School Certification, EPA certification and a Mech-4 certification.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $22.30 to $26.75 per hour
