Job Summary
Engage in technical and analytical tasks focused on collecting, aggregating, interpreting, and reporting data under the guidance of the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Develop and prepare written and oral reports, along with presentations, to support the college community. Ensure that complex institutional data is accurately and efficiently communicated to both internal and external stakeholders for routine and ad hoc purposes. Assist with survey development, administration, and analysis, as well as the preparation of mandatory reports and surveys for local, state, and federal entities, as needed.
Responsibilities
• Conduct complex statistical analyses on a wide variety of data. Prepare and communicate complex statistical information in writing, verbally and graphically for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrate agility in the understanding of institutional data, the processes that create data, and the context(s) represented in the outcomes the data convey.
• Assist in the development, administration, and analysis of in-house surveys.
• Assist with the completion of external reporting obligations and updating of the institution’s factbook and the Common Data Set, and other time-critical ad-hoc requests as needed.
• Assist in maintenance of web pages managed by the Institutional Research & Effectiveness office.
• Maintain highest standards of confidentiality and data security practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Management, or related field a minimum of one year of professional experience working with data systems, analytics, and/or research, OR significant direct professional experience (3-5 years) analyzing and managing data to inform decision-making. Strong quantitative and computer skills, including appropriate experience with statistics packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, or similar packages), and Microsoft Office product. Capable of translating raw data into information and knowledge through the use of data visualizations and reports.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy, extraordinary attention to detail, solid proofreading skills, ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task, adherence to deadlines and to ethical and legal standards in institutional research; detail-oriented, organized and resourceful with the ability to complete projects with rapidly changing priorities; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse constituents and from different cultural backgrounds; skills to develop and edit content using a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree; experience using relational databases and data retrieval (IBM Cognos is preferred); experience using Ellucian Banner database; experience using visualization software (such as Power BI or Tableau); knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
