About Us

Colorado College (“CC”) is a private, four-year, highly selective liberal arts college of 2,100 undergraduate students and a small Master of Arts in teaching program. It is located on a 99-acre campus adjacent to downtown, ‘Olympic City’, Colorado Springs. The campus sits on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak. The college operates an innovative curricular approach, known as the Block Plan, which entails students taking one course at a time for three and a half weeks, with the academic year divided into eight “blocks.” The Colorado College Department of Athletics sponsors 17 varsity programs. Fifteen programs compete at the NCAA Division III level and two at the Division I level. Division III programs are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), with the exception of Men’s Lacrosse (independent) and Women’s Lacrosse (WIAC affiliate). Division I Men’s Hockey is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), and Division I Women’s Soccer competes as an affiliate member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC).

Job Summary

The primary function of this position is to provide mentorship and instruction to student-athletes within the women’s volleyball program as we seek to win an SCAC championship and represent Colorado College in the NCAA tournament.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct student athletes in the proper execution of sport-specific techniques, strategies, and conditioning; provide education through practice and individual/small group workouts. Provide instruction in similar ways regarding leadership development and team building.
  • Develop and maintain positive, professional and effective communication with student athletes. Meet with small groups of student-athletes and individual student-athletes on a regular basis.
  • Utilize video and VOLLEYMETRICS for coaching, instruction, contest preparation, completion of scouting reports, offering game plan thoughts, and post-contest film review for both student athlete and staff development.
  • Recruit highly qualified student-athletes to a competitive academic and athletic environment through phone calls, electronic communication, video conferences, personal visits, and attendance at recruiting events; identify prospects through the use of scouting, video evaluation, communicating with coaches, and other methods.
  • Assist in travel coordination for team trips and recruiting trips.
  • Assist in program fundraising, gear/supply design and ordering, alumni relations outreach, marketing and execution of camps/clinics, and development of community service projects.
  • Promote the program through developing/maintaining a positive and consistent team social media presence.
  • Serve as a game day event supervisor for select events for other programs.
  • Abide by conference, NCAA, and Colorado College rules, regulations and bylaws. Be an active member of the AVCA. Engage in professional development annually.
  • Actively support the college’s plan to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
  • Reinforce mental health as a priority for our student-athletes and be versed in departmental/campus resources.
  • This position requires candidates to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and be able to travel extensively via ground transportation as well as air travel.
  • Serve as liaison for marketing and social media content and strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution plus a minimum of three years playing/coaching experience at the college level
  • Proficient in computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and social media platforms
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socio-economic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity
  • Available to work evening and weekend hours and to travel extensively, often by airplane.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $3,890.25 monthly
