Job Summary

The Paraprofessional (Physics) provides a variety of instructional and logistical support to department faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Set up classrooms and laboratories.
  • Assist with introductory lab instruction.
  • Assist the Technical Director in maintaining and running introductory lab and audio-visual equipment.
  • Supervise student graders.
  • Assist with set up, tear down, and management of department events.
  • Assist the officers of the Society for Physics Students group as needed.
  • Assist the department’s administrative assistant, chair, and faculty as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a closely related field; good communication skills, experience preparing and completing instructed labs, a sense of responsibility, and a commitment to excellence; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; ability to manage time and work priorities; word processing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Colorado College Physics program and the block plan. Tutoring experience (e.g., tutor with the Quantitative Reasoning Center). Teaching experience (e.g., Learning Assistant).

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $20.03 per hour
