Job Summary

The Paraprofessional for Human Biology and Kinesiology provides a variety of support to department faculty and students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Human Biology and Kinesiology faculty in teaching blocks through tasks including setting up, proctoring, and cleaning labs, grading objective portions of assignments and assessments, providing transportation for field trips, hosting review sessions and office hours, and arranging learning spaces to facilitate course goals.
  • Assist Human Biology and Kinesiology faculty in research blocks through tasks including setting up and cleaning up lab spaces, organizing administrative paperwork, maintaining inventory of lab spaces and equipment, assisting with data and equipment collection and distribution respectively, and supporting communication with participants.
  • Maintain Human Biology and Kinesiology common spaces including the conference room, El Pomar Lab, Olin Hall Lab, and hallway through tasks including daily walk throughs.
  • Promote the department of Human Biology and Kinesiology by maintaining and updating departmental bulletin boards, social media, canvas page, departmental website, as well as communicating with HBK minors and assisting in organization of social events and programming.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or minor in human biology, kinesiology or a related field; experience with equipment and testing procedures used for anaerobic and aerobic field and lab testing in humans; good communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students; a sense of responsibility and a commitment to excellence; ability to manage time and work priorities; word processing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software used in human physiology labs; coursework in human and exercise physiology; human dissection experience; and experience in biological or physiological research is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $20.03 per hour
