Job Summary

The Paraprofessional (Anthropology) provides academic and administrative support to faculty, staff, and students during courses, field trips, and department events. Paraprofessionals will also develop and lead small-scale projects aimed at improving the department, contributing their skills to enhance its operations and initiatives. This position offers the paraprofessional the opportunity to apply and develop their unique skills and expertise in a professional setting with mentoring support.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty in teaching students, preparing classrooms and labs, running audio-visual equipment, assisting with grading, preparing print and digital materials, and performing other tasks as needed for the effective delivery of the department’s curriculum.
  • Assist professors on field trips by helping with trip planning, driving, food purchasing, meal preparation, clean-up, and ensuring trip safety.
  • Develop and implement projects that enhance the department’s operations and improve the curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain the department’s website, social media, and hallway bulletin boards, and produce the departmental newsletter and event promotional materials.
  • Act as a liaison and resource for students by mentoring senior capstones, supporting the Student Anthropological Society, maintaining and sharing information on post-graduate opportunities, and contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance department operations.
  • Assist the departmental Academic Administrative Assistant with various tasks as needed.
  • Support and attend department meetings, events, and activities.
  • Represent and promote the Anthropology Department across campus, including at student-focused events developed by Admissions, Advising Hub, and similar.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree (a degree in Anthropology is not required)
  • Strong communication skills; a sense of responsibility and commitment to excellence; effective time management and prioritization abilities; leadership skills; the ability to build positive relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • A clean driving record and a valid driver's license including driver’s certification from CC Facilities
  • Advanced word processing skills; and a willingness to learn and develop proficiency in additional software programs that support the department's curriculum and outreach (e.g., Canva, Google Forms, NVivo).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Colorado College’s Anthropology Department or related disciplines; strong research skills; and experience conducting fieldwork or working in outdoor environments.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $20.03 per hour
