Job Summary
The Department of Geology at Colorado College welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor for academic year 2025–26 to serve as a one-year sabbatical replacement. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to teach courses in geomorphology, numerical modeling and/or remote sensing, and introductory physical geology. They should showcase depth and breadth across the disciplines of earth sciences in order to teach introductory through upper-level undergraduate courses and an ability to utilize innovative teaching methods, illuminate connections between earth sciences and society, and maximize on inquiry-based teaching opportunities afforded by the Colorado College Block Plan. Experience with Rocky Mountain/western United States geology, and acquaintance with the geologic evolution of the Colorado region, are valued, as are the ability to employ instrumentation and/or analytical or modeling approaches as components of undergraduate courses. Colorado College is a leading national liberal arts college with a distinctive academic calendar called the Block Plan, in which students take, and professors teach, one course at a time.
