Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of campus residential facilities. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance across multiple trades—including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, and general building upkeep. The Maintenance Worker ensures all tasks are completed safely and in compliance with OSHA standards, including the proper use of chemicals and solvents. This role requires working in a variety of conditions, including all weather environments as well as dusty or noisy areas. The Maintenance Worker may also supervise student workers or contractors as needed to support ongoing maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections to address maintenance needs and enforce safety compliance (e.g., smoke detectors, exit routes), and have knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Use computers and handheld devices for email communication and completion of work orders in TMA software.
  • Provide professional customer service to students, staff and faculty by completing tasks efficiently, communicating timelines, and ensuring follow-ups.
  • Prioritize work orders/tasks in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions effectively and maintain tool and material inventories.
  • Operate power and hand tools/equipment common to building maintenance.
  • Provide on-call emergency support and assist during move-outs and turnover periods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 100 lbs., and frequently lifting or moving objects of 50 lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching; occasional climbing of ladders, use of lifts, access rooftops, and scaffolds; frequent carrying of loads up and down stairs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Appliance repair certification.
• 3+ years’ experience in residential or campus facilities maintenance.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $19.10 to $22.44 per hour
