Job Summary
The Environmental Studies and Science Program at Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental Science with specialization in Soil Science, to begin Fall 2026.
Environmental Studies and Science is an interdisciplinary program at Colorado College with faculty whose teaching and research interests stretch across the environmental sciences, social sciences, and humanities. We are seeking a soil scientist who will complement our existing environmental science expertise by examining the connections between global climate change and soils. Potential areas of emphasis include soil carbon dynamics, nutrient cycling, soil health and agriculture, soil management and/or restoration, impacts of wildfire on soil resources, or soil biogeochemistry. We are excited about candidates who combine field and/or lab research with large-scale data analysis or modeling in their teaching and research—and who value opportunities for meaningful collaboration across the environmental studies and science landscape. As teacher-scholars, we hope to welcome a new colleague who is excited about supporting undergraduate research and dedicated to high quality, innovative undergraduate education. We are excited to share the opportunities that exist here for field-based teaching (including developing local, regional, and international courses) and for partnerships both across campus and in our community. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Global Climate Change, Soil Science in the Anthropocene, advanced electives in their area of expertise, and other courses as appropriate in the curriculum.
