Job Summary

The Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) at Colorado College is a full-time, live-on professional who fosters an inclusive, student-centered residential community grounded in belonging, engagement, and holistic student development. The RLC supports students through intentional community building, responsive care, and collaboration with campus partners.

This position plays a key role in advancing a residential experience that affirms diverse identities and promotes meaningful connection. RLCs participate in an on-call rotation and respond to student and community needs, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

The position includes a fully furnished apartment (not considered taxable income) and a $3,000 meal stipend distributed over the 10-month academic year (August–May).

Responsibilities

  • Student Education & Experience:
    • Create a positive residential experience for residents that affirms safe, diverse, and inclusive spaces that promotes learning, engagement, and retention of all students.
    • Implement the Residential Community Engagement Model and engagement expectations across assigned community.
    • Oversee specialized communities by area including Living Learning Communities, Language Houses, and Fraternity housing.
    • Serve as a conduct officer for minor and mid-level conduct issues; manage health & safety inspections in community.
    • Serve as a referral agent for campus and community resources such as CARE & Community Standards, Health & Wellbeing, Counseling Center, Financial Aid, and Campus Safety.
    • Promote a safe and secure living environment and respond to student concerns, crises, and emergencies as they arise.
    • Serve as an on-call staff member for the Department.
  • Administration & Operations:
    • Work closely with the Housing Operations to manage daily operations of the residential community, including but not limited to opening, closing, room changes, damage billing and appeals, key management, and front desk procedures.
    • Perform a variety of facility management duties such as weekly building walks, maintaining up to date inventories, and serving as the conduit for communication between facilities/maintenance staff and students.
    • Participate in various summer operations including summer conferences, summer session, Pre-College/Stroud, and various summer projects.
  • Staffing & General:
    • Live-in position to provide oversight and response to residents in assigned community.
    • Supervise and evaluate a student staff of up to 15 Resident Advisors.
    • Be present and available to work during annual all-campus events and celebrations: New Student Orientation, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Halloween, Llamapalooza, Commencement, and hall openings and closings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, experience working with college students or student leadership experience, experience responding to crisis in an on-call capacity, excellent oral and written communication skills, Employment will be contingent upon the satisfactory results of a background check of candidate and their live in spouse or partner (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or related field
  • At least one year of full-time work experience in a college or university setting
  • Experience with StarRez Housing Software or similar housing management system
  • Student conduct enforcement and/or adjudication experience.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $39,730 to $46,683 per year
