Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled professional to join our team and take on exciting remodeling projects, including new construction and renovations. With minimal supervision, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise and creativity in transforming spaces. Responsibilities

  • Perform rough and finish carpentry, sheetrock installation, taping, texturing, sanding and painting on projects; fabricate, repair, restore, and install floors, doors, windows, stairways, walls, ceilings, furniture, cabinets, shelves, signs and roofs; erect scaffolding, planking and ladders.
  • Assist in the planning and estimating of remodeling projects.
  • Order materials using the TMA work management system.
  • Assist other trades (electrical, plumbing, and HVAC) in order to complete projects on time.
  • Train and provide work direction and problem-solving assistance for less experienced staff.
    • Actively support the college’s commitment to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
    • Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
    • Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college’s sustainability initiatives and innovation.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduate plus specialized training in carpentry or equivalent remodeling work experience and a minimum of six years related experience; strong knowledge of layout, rough and finish carpentry, sheetrock installation, taping, texturing, painting and staining ability to form, pour and finish small concrete projects; knowledge of OSHA standards and regional building codes; ability to erect scaffolding; ability to operate maintenance vehicles, hand and power tools, basic carpentry, masonry and painting tools, jackhammers, generators, compressors, personal computer, willing to vary work hours to meet college objectives; ability to recognize and correct unsafe construction situations; strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physical requirements include ability to stand for long periods of time; exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently lifting and moving objects; frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching; occasional climbing of ladders and scaffolds; frequent carrying of loads up and down stairs; works in all weather conditions and in very dusty, noisy conditions; occasionally exposed to chemicals and solvents; good vision, hearing and eye hand coordination. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of rough electrical and plumbing; ability to use radios and laser assisted equipment.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $22.30 to $26.75 per hour
