Job Summary

We are seeking an Early Childhood Teacher dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for young learners and their families. In this role, you will design and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support the holistic growth of each child, guided by observation and assessment. Collaboration and flexibility are key, as you will work closely with colleagues and adapt to varying classroom needs. Compliance with Colorado Department of Human Services and Health Department licensing standards is essential. This position also champions diversity, equity, and inclusion within our campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management & Safety:
    • Assume responsibility for all aspects of the classroom; ensure materials, equipment, and environment are safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Curriculum Planning & Implementation:
    • Plan and implement daily activities and meaningful experiences for small groups, large groups, and individuals to enhance skill development in all domains.
  • Guidance & Behavior Management:
    • Use a variety of appropriate guidance and classroom management techniques, including positive reinforcement and age-appropriate strategies.
  • Health, Safety, & Compliance:
    • Responsible for food handling, medication administration, first aid, and maintaining confidentiality; report suspected abuse/neglect as a mandatory reporter.
  • Child Observation, Assessment & Reporting:
    • Identify and report children’s individual growth using portfolios, online tools, and observation; communicate with families.

Collaboration Skills:
Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues, stressful or complex interactions with the community, and requires high levels of tact and the ability to respond to escalated interpersonal interactions.

Technical Knowledge:
Work requires intermediate skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which support the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and must hold current Early Childhood Teacher certification per Colorado State Licensing requirements.
  • 1 year of experience in a related field

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $19.48 to $22.89 per hour

About Us: Colorado College (“CC”) is a private, four-year, highly selective liberal arts college of 2,100 undergraduate students and a small Master of Arts in teaching program. It is located on a 99-acre campus adjacent to downtown, ‘Olympic City’, Colorado Springs. The campus sits on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak. The college operates an innovative curricular approach, known as the Block Plan, which entails students taking one course at a time for three and a half weeks, with the academic year divided into eight “blocks.” The Colorado College Department of Athletics sponsors 17 varsity programs. Fifteen programs compete at the NCAA Division III level and two at the Division I level. Division III programs are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), with the exception of Men’s Lacrosse (independent) and Women’s Lacrosse (WIAC affiliate). Division I Men’s Hockey is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and Division I Women’s Soccer competes as an affiliate member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Oversees the NCAA compliance approach for a highly competitive multi-division institution.
