Job Summary

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience with specialization in Applied Psychology to begin Fall 2027. The successful candidate will have expertise in applying psychology beyond academics and may specialize in any subdiscipline (e.g. health psychology, social work, community psychology, forensic psychology, etc.). The candidate will teach courses across the psychology curriculum, including Introduction to Psychology, methodology courses, and courses in their area of specialty. They will also establish a robust research program that includes undergraduate students as collaborators.

Colorado College is a nationally recognized, residential liberal arts and sciences college enrolling approximately 2,000 students from across the US and around the world. The College, located on a 99-acre campus in Colorado Springs, is distinguished by its immersive learning and pedagogy made possible by the Block Plan, in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time. Each block is three and a half weeks long, allowing for unique teaching and learning strategies. Professors have a six-block teaching duty in the eight-block year, where one of the six blocks may be assigned to supervising senior and independent projects where the work is spread across the year rather than completed in a conventional block.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Psychology or related discipline by the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate must exhibit the potential for excellence in teaching to a diverse community of undergraduate students. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience and demonstrated success in bringing psychological research to non-academic settings, and who can support students doing so as well.

About Us: Colorado College (“CC”) is a private, four-year, highly selective liberal arts college of 2,100 undergraduate students and a small Master of Arts in teaching program. It is located on a 99-acre campus adjacent to downtown, ‘Olympic City’, Colorado Springs. The campus sits on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak. The college operates an innovative curricular approach, known as the Block Plan, which entails students taking one course at a time for three and a half weeks, with the academic year divided into eight “blocks.” The Colorado College Department of Athletics sponsors 17 varsity programs. Fifteen programs compete at the NCAA Division III level and two at the Division I level. Division III programs are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), with the exception of Men’s Lacrosse (independent) and Women’s Lacrosse (WIAC affiliate). Division I Men’s Hockey is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and Division I Women’s Soccer competes as an affiliate member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Oversees the NCAA compliance approach for a highly competitive multi-division institution. Plans for, directs and enforces the division’s compliance with NCAA, conference, and college rules and regulations and oversees the coordination and implementation of a holistic student-athlete support program including coordinating on campus resources and strategies conducive to the academic, athletic and personal development of the student-athletes.
