Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Director of Advancement Information Systems, responsible for providing strategic oversight of Advancement’s technology ecosystem—including CRM optimization, reporting and analytics infrastructure, and records management. This role ensures the integrity, accessibility, and effective use of data to support fundraising and alumni engagement outcomes. The Director will drive continuous system improvement, champion best practices in data governance and management, and partner across the College to deliver high-quality insights, tools, and processes that advance institutional goals.

Responsibilities

  • Systems Management:
    • Responsible for the optimization of the advancement CRM and accompanying suite of technological systems, ensuring that advancement technology infrastructure, data strategy, and business processes support and propel ambitious fundraising and engagement goals.
    • Partner with the college’s Information Technology Systems (ITS) Division on software, systems, data integrations, and data governance to maintain a strategic and sustainable data ecosystem.
    • Conduct ongoing evaluation of industry trends and emerging technologies to support business requirements and enhance advancement technology systems.
    • Develop training protocols to support end-users and ensure system usage is optimized.
  • Records Management
    • Provide strategic direction for the records management function.
    • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, consistency and optimization of data integrations to support data quality and usability.
  • Reporting and Tracking:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive reporting, data visualization, and analytics framework to support fundraising and engagement outcomes.
    • Provide both strategic direction setting and engage in hands-on work to create dashboards/reports and meet data extraction needs.
    • Responsible for compliance and benchmarking reporting including VSE, 990, and audit requests.
  • Departmental and Personnel Management:
    • Supervise a team of approximately five direct and indirect reports.
    • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and provide problem-solving assistance for staff; provide leadership, advocacy and professional development.
    • Oversee all budgets related to the Advancement Information Services Team, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5 years of experience in a related field with at least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading and optimizing a complex CRM ecosystem, preferably experience with Salesforce, Kindsight/Affiniquest Advancement RM, Apsona, and Tableau.
  • Experience with SOQL or SQL
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage technical teams.
  • Experience with data governance, analytics strategy, and data security.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising and alumni engagement within a college or university setting.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage varied stakeholders including senior leadership, technical teams, and end-users.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships strategically and efficiently.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $81,689 to $100,070 per year
