Job Summary

Provide off-campus oversight of groups in Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA, Albuquerque, NM and Las Cruces, NM for students to engage in activist and/or advocacy work that aims to uphold “participatory democracy by addressing the criminalization of immigrant communities, low-wage workers, and other vulnerable populations through direct collaboration with community-based organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to questions about housing issues for CC Social Action Institute student interns in Denver, Los Angeles, Albuquerque, or Las Cruces.
  • Implement constructive dialogue curriculum with CC Social Action Institute student interns two or more evenings a week in each city location.
  • Organize 2-3 group activities for CC Social Action Institute student interns over the course of the program.
  • Meet regularly (average once per week) with program director (in person or via Zoom) to assess the implementation of constructive dialogue among participants, the implementation of organizational work plans, and discuss other program oversight-related topics.
  • Arrange CC Social Action Institute student intern final presentations at program community partner sites.
  • Provide logistical support for CC Social Action Institute on-campus orientation and end of program debrief sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus successful completion of the CC Social Action Institute within the past 5 years;
  • Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to collaborate, think critically and solve problems;
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.

 

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.
  • Must attend a peer mentor training on the CC campus.

Other Position Details:

  • Does not supervise others
  • Position requires driving CC vehicles (drivers must be eligible for coverage under CC's insurance plan)

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $18 per hour
