Job Summary

Provide a variety of support to the Geology department faculty, staff and students.

This job posting is for one open position that will start in Block 8 (April 20th-May13th).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Introductory Geology and some advanced laboratories; set-up of classes and labs.
  • Coordinate field-trip logistics; assist with field-trip instruction; driving vans; ordering supplies and some photocopying.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring of students and a resource for questions; grading tests, laboratory, and homework papers.
  • Perform various ongoing departmental projects such as organizing and maintaining rock, mineral, map, and fossil collections; preparing thin and polished sections and specimens; general departmental maintenance and handy work.
  • Support and actively contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity, inclusion and equity at Colorado College and work effectively with all members of the campus community.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
  • Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college’s sustainability initiatives and innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Geology or a closely related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Block Plan and familiarity with local geology.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $20.03 per hour
