Job Summary

We are seeking an Early Childhood Teacher dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for young learners and their families. This position serves as a floater, providing support across multiple classrooms and age groups as needed. In this role, you will design and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support the holistic growth of each child, guided by observation and assessment. Collaboration and flexibility are key, as you will work closely with colleagues and adapt to varying classroom needs. Compliance with Colorado Department of Human Services and Health Department licensing standards is essential. This position also champions diversity, equity, and inclusion within our campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a cooperative and professional manner, treat each staff member, child, family, visitor and volunteer with respect, courtesy, and kindness.
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of the classroom.
  • Plan and implement daily activities and meaningful experiences for small groups, large groups and individually to enhance skill development in all domains of learning to include antiracism terminology and language.
  • Plan and implement a age/development appropriate classroom schedule, classroom rules and a room arrangement that supports clear defined interest areas.
  • Maintain, prepare, request or purchase safe while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Identify and report Children's individual growth portfolios and online observation tools that align with Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
  • Use a variety of appropriate guidance and classroom management techniques to work effectively with children, including positive reinforcements that support positive behavior. age/development appropriate.
  • Responsible for food handling and service to meet USDA and sanitation regulations as required by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. 
  • Administer medications within the scope of delegation by the center nursing consultant. 
  • Administer first aid treatments and follow documentation requirements. 
  • Report known or suspected incidents of child abuse and/or neglect to the appropriate authorities as a mandatory reporter. 
  • Maintain confidentiality. 
  • Maintain Colorado State mandated training for childcare providers-minimum of 15 hours per year to include 3 hours of social emotional training. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the concepts, theories, and principles of early childhood best practices and child development and be able to apply to all situations. 
  • Train and orient new staff, substitutes and student educational assistants. 
  • Actively support the college’s commitment to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community. 
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training. 
  • Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college’s sustainability initiatives and innovation. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold current Early Childhood Teacher certification.
    • For education and experience requirements see current Colorado State Licensing requirements for Early Childhood Teacher and refer to 7.702.45
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Infant nursery supervisor training and experience may apply.
  • State approved Adult and Child CPR, First Aid and Medical administration training including Standard Precaution Procedures.
  • Must have current pre-employment physical examination, proof of current vaccinations, knowledge of infectious diseases and preventative measures to reduce the spread of disease, and a working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices with young children.

Proficient with computer software programs such as Word and photo/print programs; excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic business math; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment, organizational, and customer service skills, and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion. Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to active children. Frequent bending, standing, crawling, stooping, reaching, carrying, and pushing; moderate physical effort (lifting to 50 lbs.) The environment is frequently noisy and often involves working on the floor or with small chairs/tables. Exposure to infectious diseases. Ability to operate telephone, copying machine, dishwasher, stove, microwave, stroller, computer, printer, fax machine, washer/dryer, etc. Nebulizer, portable oxygen tank, and heart/respiratory monitor used when required

Employment is contingent upon a fingerprint investigation and subsequent monitoring through the CBI and FBI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credential or AA degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $19.10 to $22.44 per hour
