Job Summary

Supports the development, execution, and evaluation of campus-wide health promotion and prevention practices that promotes student success and personal development; coordinates day-to-day operations, managing program staff, and ensuring the effective delivery of services within the context of a holistic model of wellbeing; serves as the content expert in a wide range of college health topics and programming at CC and the main contact to aid students, faculty, and staff in navigating health and wellness resources on campus and in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely, efficient, and effective daily operations of the Wellness Resource Center (WRC), including managing staffing, programming, hours, and operational budgets, in support of the broader Health & Wellness Strategic plan and health promotion goals at CC.
  • Leads communications for campus-wide health promotion services, recommendations, and programming encompassing a broad base of public health and college health topics.
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate internal policies and departmental communications within the WRC.
  • Interim leadership to support the Director of Wellness Resource Center and Associate Vice President of Wellness during absences or increased work demands.
  • Develops and maintains required and ad-hoc professional development opportunities for the WRC, Health & Wellness, and Student Life staff with a broad portfolio of public health topics, including sexual health, mental health, and overall wellness strategies.
  • Develop goals and measurable objectives for health promotion programs and services that address key health challenges of Colorado College students.
  • Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate paid and/or volunteer student staff, interns, and/or peer health educators, and an administrative assistant position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced degree in a related field such as public health, health promotion, health policy, health education, or health communication. Degrees in other fields may be considered with evidence of sufficient university-level coursework and/or professional continuing education in the areas listed above.
  • At least five years of health promotion work experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Evidence of ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing health promotion needs of emerging adults, especially college students.
  • Proficient in a variety of computer software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and statistical software).
  • Excellent presentation/oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including communicating data and assessment findings to a wide array of audiences.
  • Supervisory skills to effectively manage student staff or volunteers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility and application of these principles within the context of health promotion and social justice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college/university setting.
  • Advanced certification such as Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified in Public Health (CPH), or eligible and intent to become certified is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theories and models.
  • Familiarity with social marketing and health communication strategies.
  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills (e.g., research design, survey development, environmental assessment, focus group design and facilitation, data analysis and interpretation, etc.)
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with college student wellness concerns such as alcohol and other drugs, mental health and wellness, high-risk behavior, sexual and relationship violence, etc.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $62,653 to $75,183 per year
