Job Summary
Under general supervision, learns and performs tasks in the Carpentry Shop.
Responsibilities
· Fabricate, repair, restore and install systems/equipment appropriate to the trade (carpentry, painting and welding).
· Consult with faculty, students and staff when needed to determine how to best meet their needs.
· Identify and perform routine preventative maintenance throughout the campus.
· Assist in construction for remodeling offices, classrooms, laboratories and other college spaces.
· Make steady progress in learning and practicing necessary skills.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent plus a minimum of one year of related experience; understanding of basic principles of carpentry systems; good listening skills and ability to learn quickly; good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; effective problem solving skills; knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer assigned by CC; familiarity with other trades; ability to operate maintenance vehicles and had/power tools appropriate to the trade. Physical requirements include ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, lifting and moving objects; frequent stooping, kneeling/crouching, occasional climbing of ladders and scaffolds; frequent carrying of loads up and down stairs; ability to work in all weather conditions and in very dusty and noisy conditions; occasionally exposed to chemicals and solvents. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier
Preferred Qualifications
Training or experience in carpentry.
