About Us

Colorado College (“CC”) is a private, four-year, highly selective liberal arts college of 2,300 undergraduate students and a small Master of Arts in teaching program. It is located on a 99-acre campus adjacent to downtown, ‘Olympic City’, Colorado Springs. The campus sits on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak. The college operates an innovative curricular approach, known as the Block Plan, which entails students taking one course at a time for three and a half weeks, with the academic year divided into eight “blocks.” The Colorado College Department of Athletics sponsors 17 varsity programs. Fifteen programs compete at the NCAA Division III level and two at the Division I level. Division III programs are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), with the exception of Men’s Lacrosse (independent) and Women’s Lacrosse (WIAC affiliate). Division I Men’s Hockey is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and Division I Women’s Soccer competes as an affiliate member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC).  

Job Summary

Oversee procurement, maintenance, reconditioning and cleaning of equipment, uniforms, supplies and laundry equipment for the entire athletic department; manage department's apparel contract; work with coaches, event staff, visiting teams and officials to support home game management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and distribute appropriate athletic equipment and apparel for all athletic programs (varsity, club, and intramural sports) except Division I ice hockey; ensure compliance with NCAA rules regarding the distribution of apparel and equipment; maintain and report equipment and apparel inventory; maintain cleanliness; evaluate equipment and determine need for repair or replacement; prepare intercollegiate teams for travel; provide towels for home and visiting teams; help coaches purchase uniforms in accordance with uniform schedule; provide equipment management for home men's lacrosse games.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and conduct performance reviews for Hockey Equipment Manager; recruit, hire, train, and supervise part time workers and student workers; schedule staff based on demands of athletic seasons; supervise daily laundering of uniforms and equipment.
  • Manage and implement department-wide apparel contract; liaison with Team Sales Rep; management of "comp product" in collaboration with the VP/AD (product rebates, performance rewards, order deadlines); assist with team and staff purchasing for all sports; invoicing processes and assist with team store development; design and implement uniform purchasing rotation schedule; manage equipment room budget; evaluate and project equipment needs; purchase supplies for laundry and repair; compile records and files on lost/missing equipment to include notification and billing system; establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director- Marketing in the Athletics' logo approval process ensuring proper usage of logos, colors, etc.
  • Manage locker room operations ensuring security, safety, cleanliness, maintenance needs, laundry programs, uniform set-up for home games, as well as schedules and set-ups as they relate to visiting team requirements; ensure a clean and safe environment for student-athletes, staff and all users of El Pomar Sports Center and related fields and facilities; clean and maintain towels and other supplies for sports medicine; create specialty equipment for injured players to specifications; communicate with sports medicine staff regarding contaminated equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree plus a minimum of three years related experience, including inventory experience and supervision of staff; knowledge of materials and equipment types/quality relevant to all sponsored sports; knowledge of OSHA and NCAA regulations, product liability, and proper equipment fitting techniques; computer skills including Microsoft Office, databases and inventory software; excellent communication skills; administration skills; hands-on uniform and equipment repair skills' ability to operate basic hand tools, commercial laundry equipment, sewing and equipment repair tools. Physical requirements include ability to stand or sit for long periods of time; moderate physical effort (regularly lift/move up to 100 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds overhead); work outdoors in all weather conditions; exposure to mechanical, electrical and/or other hazards, bending, reaching, and climbing. Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends and travel as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Administration/Business or related field; Athletic Equipment Managers Association certification (must pursue if not already completed).

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $58,656 to $61,217 per year
